BBC3 Drama Lip Service set to finally air Season Two.

It has been a long dry spell   (sorry couldn’t resist) for those of us addicted to the hot & heavy Dyke drama Lip Service, but the fab Glasgowian drama is finally set to air it’s second season on BBC3 April 20th 2012 at 9pm.

Lip Service, produced by Kudos Film & Television is the better written and definitely witter cousin of the American show “The L Word”. But the series has been on hiatus for so long, that the second season (which has been in the can since last summer) was beginning to seem but a dream to its’ rabid followers.  Series #1 enjoyed a cult following, with an average audience of over half a million viewers tuning in per episode.

The show follows the lives of a handful of lesbian 20-somethings situated in Glasgow, Scotland, with a well rounded cast including Ruta Gedmintas (Frankie) Laura Fraser (Cat) Heather Peace (Sam) and Fiona Buttons (Tess).

Season 2 will also see the addition of a number of new characters to stir the sapphic pot, as well as  the return of the first season’s excellent supporting cast of Sadie (Natasha O’Keefe) lovable Ed (James Anthony Pearson) and serial womanizer Jay (Emun Elliott).

This year promises a much gritter “darker” series, with bombshell after bombshell, especially in episode 2. Harriet Braun, the series creator states: “I’m delighted that this second series has given me a chance to develop more compelling stories for our characters as well as mixing things up with some new and intriguing faces.”

CAST: Cat is played by Laura Fraser, Sam by Heather Peace, Frankie by Ruta Gedmintas, Tess by Fiona Button, Nora by Sinéad Keenan, Hugh by Stuart McQuarrie, Lexy by Anna Skellern, Sadie by Natasha O’Keeffe, Jay by Emun Elliott and Ed by James Anthony Pearson.
